Laura and Liam Fletcher-Newbold and their two German Shepherds, Klaus and Beorn, discover the delights of North Devon and Cornwall We started our journey to Devon on a Saturday morning at the beginning of August. As we live in Derbyshire this was quite a long journey, so we decided to break it up halfway with a visit to a National Trust property, Tyntesfield, an elaborate Victorian gothic revival house with extensive gardens and parkland. It is rated by the National Trust as a two pawprint-rated place (out of a possible three) as dogs are allowed across the estate and inside the shop, but not in the kitchen, rose gardens or inside the main house. There is a dog friendly area in the beautifully converted and simply named Cow Barn Cafe, which is set in the Grade II listed Victorian dairy. After we had walked the boys around one of the parkland routes and browsed the selection of items inside the gift shop, we set off to finish our journey to our base for the week at Bulworthy Forest Lodges.
