We have been delighted to see so many businesses getting involved in the Awards over the last week following the launch on 1st August.
However, we do receive quite a few e-mails each year questioning whether it is worth entering, as some businesses feel they cannot compete with the “big boys” or those with large networks.
Infact, the Awards is primarily for small businesses and while some have larger social networks, in most categories to achieve a finalist place you only need a little over 100 votes. This is usually very achievable for most businesses.
However, even if you don’t get into the finals there are many reasons to get involved in the Awards. So if you haven’t got started with your “vote for us” campaign yet, please do consider the benefits of entering I have listed below.

WHY WOULD I ENTER THE AWARDS?
1.INTERACTION
The Awards is a great excuse to contact your customers and followers and get them to support you. This can serve as a reminder of the good service you are providing for them – at no cost. Don’t forget to mention when they vote the can enter a prize draw to win £500 to spend on a dog friendly holiday.
2.REVIEWS
Every voter is asked to leave a review about their experiences with you. Many businesses finish the Awards competition with 100s of great reviews about their businesses, which you can share and promote across your website.
3.AWARDS LOGO
You can use the Awards logo and other materials (see below) to add to your website to further promote you are dog friendly. If you get over 100 votes you can also use the 100 votes received badge. This can be requested from us when you have reached this achievement just e-mail info@dogfriendly.co.uk, or myself, to request a 100 votes badge detailing the name of your business
4.UPDATE YOUR LISTING
The Awards is a great excuse to review your listing with us. Refresh your content to make sure it reflects how dog friendly you are and share this via your own website and socials.
5. INCENTIVISE YOUR CUSTOMERS
You can use the Awards to incentivise your customers to visit or get in touch. Offer a small benefit or prize for voting and your customers can prove their vote for you by showing you the vote confirmation e-mail we send them – It will feature your business name.

If you have a shop or public location why not print out some posters. Just download the PDF here. Add your business name using a PDF/image editor, and print.
